The family had spent hours talking, but not once did Darien mention what had broken his spirit. Brian pushed. Darien hedged. Hints were dropped. Questions avoided. When Erika caught Coralee’s look of horror as she watched Darien fidget, she knew he was at the end of his limit. She faked a loud yawn and suggested they grab her things and head back to his beach house.
Coralee hugged her, her embrace amazingly strong for such a slight woman. “Love him,” was all she’d said.
Erika rested her hand on top of his and intertwined her fingers. They have it all wrong, don’t they? Twila’s not back in your life. This isn’t because of some sex games domination drug thing, is it? This is something to do with Gan, and that means it’s bad. And I hate it.
She rolled under his arm and faced him. He was still asleep. How could you do it? How could you find the courage to go to Gan? Knowing what he’d demand as payment. He did, didn’t he? And you surrendered. To save your brother. And to save the Flamingo? You did it for me.
Darien’s eyelids fluttered open. He focused on her. A puzzled look crossed his face.
She nodded. “Yes, I understand. I know what happened. I know what you did. And what was done to you.”
He squeezed his eyes tight as a wave of pain of washed over his face and through his body. She felt him tense, then tremble. She heard the sharp inhale. Damn. She’d guessed right.
Concerned for his fiancée’s safety, rock star Darien Scott races to Bangkok to protect Erika Bailey, only to discover his brother is missing. Fearing the worst, he contacts his nemesis, Gan, and makes a repulsive deal that will free his brother and protect Erika’s club, The Pink Flamingo. Or so he thinks. When a python and Gan are involved, things go sour, and Darien sinks into a deep depression.
Erika is disheartened by the betrayal of her parents. Her father's destruction of her club and the humiliation of her mother’s drunken behavior have her feeling down, but those are the least of her worries. She has a wedding to plan, but won’t. Having been betrayed too often, she’s scared to trust Darien.
How can Erika prove to herself and Darien that she loves and trusts him? Simple. All she has to do is jump out of a plane.
