Interview with Florence and Rhett.
What are you keeping a secret?
Both chuckle and Florence answers. We had quite enough of that, so we’re playing the no-secret-ever-again game. It’s much better.
What scares you about the person you love?
Rhett: Why would anything about her scare me? I love – Oh, wait. The Crockpot. I’m scared when she plugs that in.
Florence raised an eyebrow before answering: Oh, really?
Rhett pats her hand, nods. We talked about it, my love. You know it’s nothing personal.
Florence rolls her eyes. All right, all right. Anyways. His goodness scares me, not being able to live up to that. I want to be better for him, and it’s not easy.
What do you think he/she can do for you that no one else can?
Rhett: she lets me be who I am. I mean, I know I can be a bit overbearing, and sometimes too much attention is suffocating. I try to keep it reasonable, but she doesn’t seem to mind.
She doesn’t, Flo states with no hesitation. And he actually did what no one else ever could. He made me face my past and question the choices I made because of it.
What does this person know about you that no one else does?
How do you decide if you can trust someone?
Rhett: it’s nothing something you decide. Trust is earned, so I trust someone when they deserve to be trusted. Of course, it works both ways.
Flo: I agree 100%.
How do you know you love someone?
What parts of loving come easy to you ? Hard?
When you walk into a room what do you notice first? Second?
How would you change the world? The things around you? The people around you?
How do you learn best?
What are your goals or priorities in life?
Rhett: family, in the broader possible sense. Florence, my brother’s family, my parents and the legacy they passed me, our town. Those are things and people I’ll always fight for.
Florence: make him happy. He has all the goals and priorities straight, but he hardly thinks about himself. So, I want to make him happy.
What unusual hobbies or interests do you have?
Rhett: On top of my thing for food, I fish, and I hunt with a crossbow.
Florence: Photography is my job and hobby, does it count? I discovered I like gardening. It’s so odd because here (they live in south Florida) I have to protect plants and flower from the sun.
What are you most afraid of?
If you had one wish, what would it be?
Both speak together: children, soon.
What do you like best about yourself?
Rhett: I’m easy to speak with, and forgiving.
Flo: My loyalty. When I commit so something or someone, it’s done. I don’t budge.
What do you like least about yourself?
Rhett: my stupid jealousy.
Flo: what I’ve done thinking it was loyalty, while it was blind and useless revenge.
What do you like best about your best friend?
Rhett: that would be my brother, and that he always has my back.
Flo: Jacob, my stepbrother, stayed with me through all the crap I did. He’s the only person before Rhett that I could trust completely.
What do you like least about your best friend?
What do you think other people think of you?
Thou shalt not steal.
Oh, but Florence had, and would do so one last time.
Ten pieces her grandfather painted for her because he loved her.
Ten pieces her mother lost, along with anything else, for loving the wrong man.
She couldn’t get back everything he’d wasted away, but she’d be damned if she’d give up those paintings.
Easy and genuine, Rhett loves his life–his family, his market, his town. Until he meets a British woman with grey eyes and a cute little smile. The woman he’s been waiting for.
The thing is, to love her is easy, but can he trust her?
When Rhett pushes to uncover her agenda, Flo knows she will lose something–the man she loves or what she’d been fighting for years.
Which road will she choose?
